I provide Statistics Help for students who are working on the methods or results chapter of their dissertation research. I handle all of the necessary statistical considerations for the work and patiently guide each student so that they fully understand and can defend all statistics used in their research.
Some doctoral students wonder if it is ethical to hire a consultant. I tell them, surgeons don’t do their own anesthesia, because anesthesia is a specialized enough field that the surgeon would prefer to use an expert in that field. By analogy, researchers usually do not do their own statistics, because statistics is a specialized enough field that they would prefer to hire an expert. So, if earning a Ph.D. is about learning how to do research, then by working with a statistician for your dissertation, you will be gaining valuable experience in working with a statistician in your future profession. Beyond that, I can tell you that many of my clients have told me that their mentor encouraged them to hire a statistical consultant. In addition, some universities have links to statistical consultants on their web site, such as Walden University.
I, Steve Creech, President/Owner of Statistically Significant Consulting, LLC, agree to keep all data and documents associated with your project confidential. My assertion that keeping the data and documents confidential means that I will not share the materials (e.g., raw data, analysis files, passwords, preliminary data runs, draft manuscripts, etc) to which I have access, or the ideas, opinions and information they contain, with any other person unless I have express permission from the client to do so. I understand that I am responsible for ensuring that the data (raw or electronic) with which I am working will be stored on a single computer that is password protected so that other individuals or computers (if part of a network) are unable to access files on that computer. In addition, I understand that I am responsible for ensuring that the single computer on which data are maintained is kept in a safe and locked location. As part of this agreement, I will not independently publish data or analyses stemming from this work without the involvement and/or permission of the client. I agree to return all data and files associated with this project upon the request of the client, and to ensure that no files remain on my system after that time.
As a matter of standard procedure, I do not discuss client’s names (whether they be an individual or a corporation) with others. I treat all communications with my client as confidential and will not share those communications with anyone.
Occasionally, clients ask for references as a condition of retaining my service. Clients are not used as a source of reference without their prior approval.
