SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) is a professional statistical analysis software package.
As you probably already know, statistical methods like linear regression, t-test and ANOVA, involve complex formulas and calculations. The company that developed SPSS software employs high level statisticians that work with software developers to implement these complex formulas and calculations.
